July 11, 2007

It's day three of our course. Again, I am feeling challenged, but hopefully not overwhelmed. We are now going to do a webquest. If I can access the set of lessons I created last semester for my English 91 students to respond to and write about a poem, I will revise that into a webquest, where they can search for information about the particular author and poem. Doing the structure of the webquest and finding the sites will be a challenge, but I think I can do this. It will be a bigger challenge for me to format the webquest onto powerpoint.

I think it is interesting that you are changing a traditional lesson it to a WebQuest. I am looking forward to hearing how that works.

I think I am gonna have a hard time creating webquest. Everything is so quick that I can't catch up with.
You are not the only one who has difficulty, but we can do it, Right?

Jody,
I agreed with what you were saying in class today. The flashy animations and bright colors of a powerpoint can be so distracting. I have only used the traditional white background and simple texts for my powerpoints in the past. I think the objective of a lesson is the thing to keep in mind while creating a powerpoint presentation. I always ask myself, will animations enhance what I am trying to get across, or detract from the lesson. Good luck, if you stick to the basics (I always do!) you should not have a problem.
